I made a site, then moved it to a different directory with different name.  Domain name transfer required resetting all the internal addressing code to use the domain name address, rather than the server machine address.  All working fine, until I go into admin to edit and publish.  When I do, the index.html file in the folder named for the site with hyphens, inserts an extra element in all the paths on that page (it's the folder that the site was housed in before moving)  Without going into detail here, I'd like to know whether I can expect that the "Repair Site" option in admin is likely to fix this glitch.  Not inclined to rebuild the entire site if there's danger that the site, now online, would be trashed, requiring a complete reinstall, and a day or two offline.
Has your use of "Repair" worked for this sort of problem?  Thanks for any input.  (I suppose I need to set up a local Wamp server on my home machine, or some such to be able to test changes to the site out of the public eye.)

It seems to me that this could be fixed by simply editing the paths contained in showkaseconfig.ini   Correct?

P.S.  It is quite likely that your suggestion to set the target directory to the server root would work, but I am happy to have rid the site's code of references to the server address.

OK, finally FIXED---by global search and replace for all files, substituting www.vita-taylor.com for every instance of s97231701.onlinehome.us/frankase  Works fine now.

Moral of story is to construct your showkase galleries by logging in to what will be the final address of the site.  My plan to construct the site, then just point the domain name to a site built using webserver address made the giant pathing problems.  Thanks Steven for your help!

Thanks, Steven.  Unfortunately none of the "fixes" work.  When I go to 1and1 control panel and set the destination of vita-taylor.com to blank, then it serves the default lightandvariable.com page.  Not wanted.  I tried editing the showkaseconfig.ini various ways, also without luck.  I can't set the destination on the server to ../  either. (To try to get rid of the surplus /frankase/ part of the address.)  Any further suggestions about a repair?   Starting to be an urgent matter for me, since I want to post another client's gallery on the same server.   Thanks very much.

This does not work.  All my other sites go directly to the site's first page, not a menu.  The showkase gallery is in /frankase.
I called 1and1 and the support person said it was a problem with a css entry--that I need a full server url inserted, not the domain name, but I have no idea which css file would fix that.  I see no addressing options in the theme css or the main ones.

Main point is that s97231701.onlinehome.us/frankase gets to the site.  vita-taylor.com points to that address, but it serves up a mess.

You cannot get to the site using www.vita-taylor.com/frankase/

Any ideas?  I will be posting more galleries, and need this solved.  Thanks for any help.

What am I missing?  Made a gallery and it displays fine using absolute web server address/showkase/  But when I use client's domain name/showkase/  which points to that server address, I get an unformatted page of links that look like html1994.  Is there a standard url format to go to a gallery?  This is a stand alone gallery, not embedded in an index.htm page. Do I need anything besides domainname/showkase/ to access the formatted gallery?

Works: s97231701.onlinehome.us/frankase/
Does not work: vita-taylor.com/frankase/
Here's the unformatted result:  www.vita-taylor.com

Thanks.  (Feeling dumb.)

Your link to upgrading does not work, but I found it.

Bingo!
I wondered why nothing was working...
I had not successfully upgraded to Pro Viewer (though Pro Options were in my config menu).
Replacing the jbcore folder on my server made it all work as advertised.

Glad to find out that it wasn't just multiple bugs!  Seems to me that the Pro options should not
show up in the config menus, until installed.  I kept wondering whether the two versions were
fighting it out in the xml files...

Anyway, thanks,

I am using the Kosel theme for a gallery site.  I activated some options in the button box (full-screen, thumbnail toggle), but, though I checked social sharing for Facebook, Twitter, etc., the icons never appear in the button box.  I tried editing the config.xml for that page, also without results.  Another installation using Boma shows the button box as intended with sharing icons, and also allows left-side placement of gallery thumbnails, which has not worked in Kosel.  Are there issues in the Kosel theme re: sharing icons, or am I missing a step?

Steven,  the import trick is working: I set up a new folder on the server, uploaded the showkase files, then used "Import" to scan the non-working site, selected 9 pages for import.  Once done, my admin function is back, though, of course, I had to revise the nav order to get the links right, and still have lots of tweaking to do on layout, thumbs, button bar, etc.  STILL, the admin function is back, and the problem seems fixed.  THANKS.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The 2 sites are entirely separate. I'll try a few things, and report if solved.  I cannot trash the pages one at a time, since there's no "admin" page.  "Pages" just yields "You have no web pages."  I can try deleting the page folders one at a time in ftp, I suppose, but that would probably generate navigational and internal errors?

Thanks.  The server passed all tests (all green checks), including the "write" and "sessions" tests.  Not surprising, since I have another ShowKase site running fine in the same directory tree.  My "upgrade to same version" attempt failed entirely: same behavior.  "You have no web pages"  All the folders for the 7 galleries are there in the root of the site.  I'm out of ideas, except for attempting to rebuild the site from scratch.  I keep getting "Hierarchy Request Error" messages when I try to republish.
What is that?  The program just can't find the 8 pages folders in the same directory.  Probably could be fixed with editing XML files, and paths  but I wouldn't know what I was doing.  Any further theories, anyone?
Thanks much.

I have built a photography site for a client. Seven galleries.  Almost finished.
But suddenly I cannot access the /admin functions.  Get message that this
is a temporary site, and should sign in: when I do, it says I have "no web pages."
But I can still access the complete site using the full url.  I had been getting
various messages about "hierarchy error" etc.  Anyway, last night, all worked;
this morning no access to /admin functions.

I tried uploading a fresh index.php, and then loaded the whole package from
download and added in all the folders created in last few days.  Still says I
have no pages.  Help?
